Listening event: Självporträtt

Welcome to a listening party for the radio play Självporträtt, written by Dimen Abdulla, directed and scored by Roxy Farhat & Zhala.

The radio play was produced for Sveriges Radio in 2016 and can best be described as a modern opera, or perhaps a new interpretation of a classic Greek drama with a boys choir, actors and a computerized voice. Together, they take you through a journey in the head of a woman trying to liberate herself from her oppressive, mentally ill mother.

‘För mig har det kommit att bli allt viktigare med sagor och vad sagor är, och hur dessa berättelser är ett sätt att kolonisera ett barns psyke. Jag är intresserad av vem som berättar fiktionen om verkligheten och Självporträtt är baserad på denna idé’ Dimen Abdulla
