Curating Harun Farocki: Antje Ehmann and Helena Holmberg in conversation

20 March 2026, 18:00–20:00

Farocki install view 2006

Bringing together two distinct yet complementary perspectives, Antje Ehmann’s long-standing collaboration with Harun Farocki and Helena Holmberg’s experience of curating the exhibition’s first iteration, this conversation will address questions of legacy, institutional presentation and exhibition-making with particular attention to how Farocki’s works are situated and rearticulated within contemporary art. Holmberg served as curator at the time when the exhibition was originally conceived twenty years ago and worked closely with Farocki in its development. Since Farocki’s passing in 2014, Ehmann has played a central role in consolidating his legacy as a filmmaker, writer, and artist through her work with the Harun Farocki Institute, as well as by curating several posthumous exhibitions over the past decade.

Antje Ehmann studied literature, philosophy, and media studies and worked for several Film festivals. She curated numerous group and single shows in museums and galleries worldwide, together with Carles Guerra, Okwui Enwezor, Marius Babias, and others. Active as a video artist and as a co-editor of multiple books. Conducted workshops and exhibitions of the project Labour in a Single Shot together with Harun Farocki from 2011 to 2014 and, after 2017, with Eva Stotz and others; participating with the project in the Venice Biennale in 2013 and 2015.
