4 x Aljafari: Screening and talk by Kamal Aljafari

Four films by Kamal Aljafari that together offer a cross-section of the director’s body of work and his interest in the politics of memory, and in how one can give voice and form to a reality that has been excluded or marginalized. The program includes, among others, Paradiso, XXXI, 108, a reinterpretation of a propaganda film by the Israeli army from the 1970s, and Balconies, a meditation on unfinished balconies in Ramallah. The director himself has selected the films for this short film program.

After the screening, a discussion on archives and memory will be held in connection with Index’s exhibition on the German filmmaker Harun Farocki.
