The Future Futures Talk Show at Kiasma

On 2 October a screening of the The Future Futures Talk Show – Through the Lens will be held at Kiasma in Helsinki. The screening is a part of Positioning: A Symposium on Curatorial Thinking in the Nordic-Baltic Region & Beyond that runs from 29 September to 2 October.

Through the lens is a talk show about gaze, images and power co-produced by Index Teen Advisory Board, Praksis Teen Advisory Board and Publics Youth Advisory Board, in the Future Futures network.

The talk show explores the intense image exchange is taking place online. The image has long since replaced text as the main medium of information, and if you were born after the turn of the millennium, the likelihood is that you get most of your news via social media. In three episodes, we get to follow in front of and behind the camera as young people aged 16-20 discuss which powers, agencies and desires control our visual contemporary world.

It has preciously been screened at Folk och Kultur, Index, Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo and at PUBLICS in Helsinki.

The boards in the Future Futures network are currently collaborating on Reaching Out, a project exploring how cultural institutions connect and communicate with new and young audiences. It will culminate in a publication.
