MAD HORIZON Events Program
Index presents MAD HORIZON, an exhibition by John Skoog in collaboration with Emanuel Röhss. The exhibition will be the first major presentation of the artists in an institution in their native country Sweden. The center of the exhibition is John Skoog’s most recent film “Shadowland”, screened within an installation developed together with Emanuel Röhss, and a selection of further works by other artists and related archival materials. The works serve as a background for a series of events that unfold over the course of the exhibition and explore its central themes, such as the relationship between landscape and identity and the role of moving images in creating and mediating places. The exhibition will be on view until 4 December 2016. More |
As the inaugural part of the program for the exhibition MAD HORIZON, Emanuel Röhss presents a performance based on his recently published book, Location Scout. The performance is a collaboration with the musician Anne Gry Friis Kristensen and four actors. The outset is a table read – the preliminary chemistry read session between the cast for a movie prior to rehearsals and the shoot on set. The story revolves around a Swedish-American couple. Breaking into the Ennis House in Los Angeles, they enter an oneiric state and are confronted with a number of fantastical scenarios. Friis has developed a soundtrack for the performance that re-imagines the acoustics of the Ennis House through the films that used the building as a location. More |
Could we outline the score for our meeting? Let’s try crashing together. You are welcome to join a collective dive into the conventional meeting formats of conversations. The aim is to write a documentative score, participation is negotiable and care is included. This writing session is led by Frida Sandström, an artist and a writer based in Gothenburg and Stockholm. Please RSVP to bronwyn@indexfoundation.se, limited places, 50 SEK. More |
