Ulrika Sparre. 1974-2025

In 2020, Ulrika Sparre presented her exhibition EAR TO THE GROUND at Index. In this exhibition, we encountered invisible traces of reality: the sound within stones, secret luminosity, and approaches—from science and nature, but also from faith—to that which we may never fully see.

Ulrika Sparre’s passing leaves us with a deep sense of loss. Yet, we remember her perseverance in seeking the invisible, her ability to transform language into something new, her thoughtful presence, and her generosity. Her work was also featured in the exhibition Index held in Barcelona, and her visits to Index—whether to see exhibitions or simply to share a conversation—were always filled with joy.

We will miss Ulrika deeply, and we will remember her as this remarkable artist who revealed the many layers of reality in our lives.
