Index 19 is a new weekly events series in Index’ front space. Presenting single works, films, readings and discursive events, the aim is to create a space for dialogue with our surrounding community and visitors. Index 19 is a flexible program initiative, with one night or returning events by international artists and Stockholm-based initiatives.
Program details for each Wednesday can be found on our website and Facebook page and will be updated throughout the season.

Two film programs, presented by Film i Samtidskonsten and Index, provide a rare opportunity to see films by the artist from different periods of her work. The first program features the film “Touch” (1989, 56 min.), which is based on a performance by Simone Forti and her company at Wave Hill, a beautiful 28-acre estate in New York. “‘Touch’ strongly evokes those haunted summer dusks when children play wild outdoors games too late.” (New York Times) More |
The second program consists of two documentations of performances from Forti’s ongoing series of “News Animations” which combine spoken text and movement, and two works made for the camera, including her most recent piece “Flag in the Water.” In this new work, it is impressive to see how fearlessly Forti handles her own body as material of her work. “Solo No. 1” will also be shown, which was influenced by her studies of animal movements. Tickets can be booked directly through Zita, by calling 08 – 23 20 20 or visiting the cinema’s ticket office. More |
Release and presentation of the new issue of OEI magazine with a focus on experimental film, with talks, discussions and screenings. OEI magazine focuses on alternative historiographies with topics such as Poema/Processo in Brazil, Swedish Land Art or “non assertive writing”. OEI was founded in 1999 and has published 70 issues and, with OEI editör, 80 books. More |
As part of our pedagogical programming, Index is hosting a series of workshops for schools and universities where students encounter the work of the choreographer, writer and dancer Simone Forti. Students are invited to participate and work collaboratively with Forti’s ground breaking dance methodologies that focus on chance, observation of animals and personal narratives. If you’re interested in participating or bringing students, please email bronwyn@indexfoundation.se. More |
