Index video collection moves to the Filmform archive

Index is happy to announce that the extensive video archive of the organization will become a part of Filmform, the foremost organisation dedicated to the preservation and distribution of experimental film and video art in Sweden. Index’ video archive contains a substantial collection of international installation and moving image work related to exhibitions at the organization, dating back to the 1970s and including artists such as Bas Jan Ader, Harun Farocki and Wolfgang Tillmans. The archive is currently in the process of being included in the reference archive. The collection will be available for research and on-site viewing by appointment at the office of Filmform on Kungsholmen.

Dedicated to the preservation, promotion and worldwide distribution of Swedish experimental film and video art, Filmform (established 1950) is the oldest existing organization of its kind in Sweden and often engages as an advisor to museums, galleries, universities and festivals. Constantly expanding, the collection spans from 1924 to the present, including works by Sweden’s premier artists and filmmakers as well as a selection from other Nordic countries.
The Filmform distribution collection consists of 820 titles available to rent for public screenings and exhibitions as well as for educational purposes. The reference archive contains about 4 000 titles that are available to view and research at Filmform in Stockholm.
