Reading: Kritiker # 38, Ett annat alfabet
9 February 2016, 18:00
Kritiker. Nordisk tidskrift för litterär kritik och essäistik is out with a new issue on text as material, form and method in contemporary artistic practices. Through art works and essays the issue surveys the contemporary text and language oriented Nordic art scene.
In the last decade, narration and storytelling both documentary and fictional has become central in many artistic practices. It is particularly the relational aspects of the text that has been put into focus, where text appears in and as installations, as objects, in performance, in a number of different forms and formats as well as media.
While working on the issue the editing team has been guided by the interest in the status of text in contemporary artistic practices. We have approached artists that explore text by working with it as concept, material, form and method. A number of the contributing artists work with feminist oriented critical practices, where attention is put on the ideological and hegemonic dimensions of language at the same time as counterwritings are created.
The event will be introduced by the editors, followed by readings of Ulrika Gomm (19:00) and Lena Séraphin (19:30). Readings will be in Swedish, with an English introduction.
Kritiker #38 was edited by Moa Franzén, Anna Nyström and Pia Sandström in collaboration with graphic designer Jonas Williamsson.
