Open Meeting: URGENT AND UNPRECEDENTED
25 October 2018, 14:00–16:00
Open meeting for artists and cultural workers’ to discuss the UN IPCC Special Report ‘Global Warming of 1.5 Ct’
Index welcomes interested people such as artists, curators, writers, critics, educators, institutional representatives and cultural workers to meet and collectively discuss the Special Report from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (UN IPCC).
As reported internationally, ‘The world’s leading climate scientists have warned there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C, beyond which even half a degree will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people…urgent and unprecedented changes are needed to reach the target.’ (The Guardian).
Now is the time to respond to the report collectively. We invite interested parties to Index to read, discuss and formulate responses to the report. The discussion will be open to all interested parties. Open Meeting: URGENT AND UNPRECEDENTED will be held within the context of the current Index exhibition, And Tomorrow And. Curator Bronwyn Bailey-Charteris will facilitate the discussion.
