Index Learning Program at Publics, Helsinki

12 September 2019

Audience at Index Summer Festival, The Defying Parrot, 14-16th of June

As part of the festival Today is Our Tomorrow at PUBLICS in Helsinki, Index is continuing the learning methodologies developed in the Index exhibition And Tomorrow And. The workshop is a moment to map, modify and share artistic methods of understanding the role of artists in proposing distinctive and liveable futures, to act as a counterpoint to the dominant ideals of the so-called Anthropocene.

Initiated by PUBLICS, Today Is Our Tomorrow is a collaborative, collective, and transdisciplinary festival – a coming together of affinities, alliances and differences. Taking place this year at club Kaiku and the neighbouring spaces Kieku and Stidilä, the program is produced in partnership with numerous local and international organisations, initiatives and institutions. Today Is Our Tomorrow takes the form of a roving constellation of practices, discussions, talks, workshops, installations, interventions, film screenings, events, live performances, DJ sets, curatorial projects, and live music intersecting with one another across three main interconnected venues.

Index learning team led by Emmeli Person with curator Bronwyn Bailey-Charteris will travel to Helsinki to teach on the methods of developing collective manifestos for the future at the festival.
