Index 19 is happy to announce an evening with artist Silke Otto-Knapp on 18 November 2015, 19:00-22:00. The presentation includes a dress, initially designed for a performance by choreographer Flora Wiegmann, and two pictures.

Silke Otto-Knapp lives in Los Angeles, where she is Assistant Professor for Painting and Drawing at UCLA. She is currently teaching as a Visiting Professor at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. Recent solo exhibitions of her work include “Land lies in water” at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, “Monday or Tuesday” at Camden Arts Center, London, “Questions of Travel” at Kunsthalle Vienna, and “Geography and Plays” at Kusthal Charlottenborg. Her work has been shown at Tate Britain, the Hammer Museum, Berkeley Art Museum, Migros Museum, and Van Abbemuseum. She is represented by Gavin Brown’s Enterprise in New York, Galerie Buchholz, Cologne and Berlin, and greengrassi in London.

The event is organized in connection with a lecture by Jan Verwoert, “… damned, and carefully public!”, on 18 November, 17:00, at the Royal Institute of Art, Flaggmansvägen 1, the Lecture Room.

Index 19 is a weekly events series in Index’ front space. Presenting single works, films, readings and discursive events, the aim is to create a space for dialogue with our surrounding community and visitors. Index 19 is a flexible program initiative, with one night or returning events by international artists and Stockholm-based initiatives.
