Index

January 2021

Index re-opens to the public for the final two weeks to visit the exhibition Tracking Distribution, on view until 31 January. We continue to prioritize our visitors and our team, and monitor visitor numbers to ensure social distancing is possible, taking extra care and with increased cleaning in place.

If you would like to visit the exhibition alone, outside of our regular hours, please contact us and we will arrange this.

Tracking Distribution is an exhibition that presents a proposal to think together around the invisible structures organizing the world. Distribution is a key word within logistics systems and the management of economies. Read Håkan Nilsson’s review of Tracking Distribution in Svenska Dagbladet here.

Going to a Conference: In Character is a two day format hosted and developed by Index, Index Teen Advisory Board, PRAKSIS and PRAKSIS Teen Advisory Board, departing from In Character: a series of workshops that use roleplay and LARP to re-imagine and critically examine the social construction of the exhibition space.

On Saturday 30 January, the Teen Advisory Boards at Index in Stockholm and Praksis in Oslo sink into a series of online workshops – confer and exchange ideas, workshop identities and swap experiences together with a group of young delegates engaged with SixtyEight Art Institute in Copenhagen.

On Sunday 31 January, the conferring opens up, allowing others to listen in. Sunday’s public format hosts discussions in the mid-way process, and gives a platform for the teens to formulate future hopes for how – and who – we will be when we re-enter exhibition spaces.

More information coming soon – to register your interest in joining on Sunday 31 January, email rsvp@indexfoundation.se

Editorial Thinking presents and explores editorial processes in artistic practices. The exhibition brings together works, publications and approaches to thinking and working with contemporary art through a process-based working method which could be considered as an editorial mode or lens. Editorial thinking is understood as a way to observe the world with multiple temporalities and focus, navigating through formats and collaborating with many agents.
