Elisabeth Westerlund

“A flower is a highly meaningful phenomenon: one just needs to visit a flower shop to be reminded of its intricate web of codes and connotations. Elisabeth Westerlund has covered one wall of the gallery with a Laura Ashley wallpaper, and little by little throughout the exhibition period she pins actual flower petals directly on the wallpaper, as a very physical duplication of the wallpaper’s rural romanticism. Like her previous work, it can be perceived as a very open approach to the meaning of a pattern.”
